Accountability for Attendance

Although school attendance is mandatory in all states, students at the high school level often develop the habit of "skipping school" or "cutting classes".  A proactive attendance policy that is well communicated to students and parents with the consequences for non-compliance outlined must be established.

Staff Collaboration

Time is provided regularly for faculty and staff to meet and share information regarding curriculum, best practices, instructional strategies,as well as classroom management and discipline.

Student/Teacher Relationships

Relationship building is paramount to improving student achievement especially among at-risk students.  This involves a commitment of time on the part of the teachers as they build trust with students, as they encourage, help with academic difficulties, and model  positive and acceptable behaviors.

Incentive Program

Incentives, rewards, or awards to motivate and recognize student growth and achievement. A planned program that also recognizes parents, volunteers, mentors, teachers, etc.
